Along the Acheron

The painting combines visual references with observations from everyday life. The perspective moves from top to bottom. A journey into the underworld, where that which seemed familiar—people, places, visual references—becomes alienated. First, I painted watercolors with motifs from my apartment, from the street, and from a subway station. Then I added visual quotes that I had seen in exhibitions in Berlin and Hamburg. I combined these visual quotes with my everyday observations. In this way, new forms emerged.
